List of laboratories in the Department

Academic Labs:

Electrical Engineering department has total 8program specific laboratories. Each lab is equipped with experiment setups required as per the syllabus. Care has been taken to illuminate the labs while maintaining the overall ambience. The labs are centralized air-conditioned. For accessing the internet, WiFi routers have been installed in each lab. Each lab has seating capacity of 30 students. Some other features of labs are Notice boards, Cupboards, Intercoms, First aid kits, Knowledge walls, Safety instructions, Dustbins etc.

Lab Name: Electrical Engineering Lab (EE –L1)

Area: 66.26 sq.m

  • This lab provides a platform to students to enhance their programming and simulation skills.
  • Lab is equipped with required number of computers and software to provide hands on experience for each individual student.
  • This lab focuses on the design of electrical networks and power systems using software like MiPower and MATLAB/Simulink.

  • This lab focuses on teaching students about the characteristics and operation of DC and AC machines.
  • This lab offers students experimental and hands-on experience, enabling them to delve into the detailed study of the characteristics and operational aspects of electrical machines.

  • Gain fundamental understanding of high voltage concepts, including dielectric material behaviour and breakdown mechanisms.
  • Perform high voltage tests on materials to evaluate their performance

 

Lab Name: Electrical Engineering Lab (EE –L4)

Area: 66.49 sq.m

  • This lab emphasizes enhancing knowledge of power system fundamentals and analysis.
  • Gain hands-on experience with various types of protection equipment commonly employed in power systems.

 

Lab Name: Electrical Engineering Lab (EE –L5)

Area: 66.49 sq.m

  • This laboratory serves as a platform for students to undertake research-based projects under the supervision of faculty members.
  • The facility has been utilized by B.Tech students for their project and research work.
  • The outcomes of the projects contribute to publications in various conference proceedings, both at national and international levels.

 

Lab Name: Electrical Engineering Lab (EE –L6)

Area: 66.49 sq.m

  • This lab aims to acquaint students with the characteristics of power semiconductor switching devices and their applications in rectifiers, AC voltage controllers, inverters, and choppers.
  • It offers a platform to explore the operation and characteristics of power electronic converters utilized in electric drives.

  • Validate theoretical concepts and theorems learned in lectures through practical experimentation.
  • The lab emphasizes enhancing students' knowledge of the usage of various electrical and electronics measuring instruments.

 

Lab Name: Electrical Engineering Lab (EE –L8)

Area: 66.49 sq.m

  • Students gain an understanding of the basic operation of microprocessors and microcontrollers architecture, along with fundamental programming skills in assembly language.
  • Study the various characteristics of different types of amplifiers, including operational amplifiers (Op-Amps).
  • Introduce students to the basic concepts of digital logic gates and guide them in implementing logic functions using these gates.

Project Based Lab:

  • A project laboratory is established in the department to provide the support for project and research development.
  • The laboratory has computer systems with software support. It facilitates computer based hardware interfacing for project development.
  • This laboratory is used by the students for mini projects and final year major projects.

Computing Facility available at the department:

Department of electrical engineering has a dedicated computer lab. The details are as follows:

Furthermore, 5 computers are also available in EE-L4 and EE-L5 to offer computing facilities.
